Johnson Controls Introduces Its Next Generation HomeLink® Wireless Control System With Expanded Features
HomeLink V gives consumers ability to confirm if their garage doors have been closed
PLYMOUTH, Mich., Aug. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — For more than 15 years, Johnson Controls, a global leader in automotive seating, overhead systems, door and instrument panels, and interior electronics, has helped approximately 50 million consumers experience convenience, comfort and peace-of-mind with the HomeLink® Wireless Control System, the original vehicle-based control system that enables drivers to remotely activate garage door openers, entry door locks, home lighting, security systems, entry gates, and other radio frequency convenience products. The company’s next-generation HomeLink system – which is available for 2013 model year vehicles and has been sold to two domestic automakers – will extend this tradition with key performance improvements.
HomeLink V from Johnson Controls offers a wide range of features and benefits. It provides the ability to not only transmit, but also receive information, allowing the system to provide feedback regarding previous commands, such as when a garage door was last opened or confirm whether it has been closed. It also is lighter in weight and more compact in size (65 by 50 millimeters) than previous generations of the product for easier packaging.
"Through HomeLink, Johnson Controls has created a product category that has consistently offered increasingly innovative products for our customers," said Jim Trainor, HomeLink product line director for the Automotive Experience business of Johnson Controls. "Our latest version of HomeLink utilizes our extensive expertise to adapt to both current and future technology innovations, with easy-to-install software upgrades."
The Johnson Controls HomeLink V relies on a single printed circuit board (PCB) that is compatible with the access control industry for most markets. The single PCB, along with the system’s design and performance updates, makes HomeLink V a cost-effective solution for an expanded range of markets, including South America, China and more.
HomeLink V is compatible with the access control industry’s most recent and secure version of rolling code software, Keeloq 3 encryption algorithm. It also operates at high frequency bands (860-980 MHz) to address future innovations.
Since introducing the product in 1995, Johnson Controls has created a number of strategic relationships to ensure that HomeLink is compatible with a broad variety of home safety and convenience products. Currently, HomeLink is offered on more than 160 vehicles in all brands and segments and is compatible with more than 99 percent of garage door opening systems currently available. Consumers can program the system, using the Johnson Controls QuickTrain technology, by pushing several buttons. For more information, please visit: http://www.homelink.com.
