Johnson Controls unveils its first complete interior for the luxury vehicle market in China at the 2013 North American International Auto Show
Supplier showcases its interior development capabilities with Hongqi (Red Flag) H7 vehicle
DETROIT, Jan. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Johnson Controls, a global leader in automotive seating, showcases its complete vehicle interior development capabilities in China – including design, engineering and manufacturing – with the debut of the Hongqi (which means “Red Flag”) H7 vehicle at the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) at Detroit’s Cobo Center.
The vehicle is specifically aimed at government officials and luxury vehicle buyers.
The Hongqi H7 was designed and developed by Johnson Controls’ two joint venture plants in Changchun (the Jilin province in China) for China’s well-known, historic Red Flag brand.
“Johnson Controls first China vehicle program is a testament to our unparalleled total interior integration capability around the world,” said Richard Chung, vice president Industrial Design, Johnson Controls Automotive Seating. “This F-segment luxury sedan shows the kind of integration that is possible when an automaker, such as Hongqi, brings our company and its expertise in at the ground floor to optimize design, engineering and manufacturing.”
Johnson Controls’ capabilities and content featured in the vehicle include:
Complete seating, instrument panel, door panels, floor console and instrument cluster.
- Seating design that includes an innovative active head restraint system that uses the entire seatback to cantilever forward.
- Interior refinement, including class-A surface and craftsmanship.
- Cluster design, as well as the first human machine interface design that Johnson Controls launched in China.
According to Chung, Johnson Controls, with its expertise in China and world-class design, engineering and manufacturing capabilities, is able to help automakers succeed in the country and focus on high-quality craftsmanship, safety and execution.
This is the 19th year that Johnson Controls will be involved in NAIAS as an event sponsor and exhibitor. Its 10,000-square-foot exhibit in room D2-15 of Detroit’s Cobo Center will be open to media and invited guests. A product overview press conference will be held at 6:30 a.m. EST on Monday, January 14.
The NAIAS event – one of the world’s premier automotive exhibitions – opens to the media and industry officials on January. 14.
